South Farmingdale's Dual Set up

Attached is South Farmingdale's Dual Set-up. They deactivated them back around 1993 and scrapped them into a dumpster (from what I'm told) Click on photo to enlarge.

I was told All Service Alarm Co. from Oceanside took them away when I asked about them when I was visiting their firehouse.
They got rid of alot of diaphones from different depts. and some were sold new diaphrams by them. I guess money for the copper for the alarm company.

Once the pagers started coming out in the 90's it was hard for them to continue to justify the horns. They were exceptionally LOUD and Very Long blasts and the area was much more populated around the firehouse by the 90's. In 1961 when they began operations as South Farmingdale FD the area around the firehouse was heavily wooded and scantly populated.
